MESTA Rock Party MESTA is inviting you, and your family, to our 2024 Rock Party! The Rock Party will feature fun and games for the entire family. Of course, our theme will be rocks and minerals. Everyone will have the opportunity to win some impressive prizes by earning tickets as you play games that showcase our theme. If the weather is clear there will be night sky observing with telescopes. Bring along your own lawn chairs or folding chairs, please! Note: This year you must download, print out, and mail back in the registration form (see below - return address is on the form: make checks payable to MESTA). When: Saturday September 7, 2024 from 3:00 PM to about 9 PM (Arrive between 2:00 and 3:00 PM) Where: Eastern Michigan University Fish Lake Biological Station, located northeast of Lapeer, MI. Address: Kresge Environmental Educational Center 2816 Fish Lake Road Lapeer, MI 48446 Why attend? Lots of games, including rock/mineral games, food, and socializing! Best of all, you could come away with one or more rock prizes!! All rocks are free for you or for use in your classroom! Dinner will include: Burgers, hot dogs, pulled BBQ chicken, chicken nuggets, salads, desserts, and munchies. Vegetarian option available upon request. Drinks include: Pop, lemonade, water, and tea Cost: $10/adult, $5/child (12 and under) Registration deadline is: August 23. 2024 (or until seats are sold out) Registration Form: Watch this page for information about the 2025 Rock Party! Tentative Schedule: 3:00 PM: Ice breaker. Get to know people and receive a raffle ticket. 3:15 PM: Run for the rocks! Children go first, everyone gets a rock! 3:45 PM: MESTA annual membership meeting run by President Sherry Claflin. 4:00 PM: Rock games begin! Participants will be divided into teams to play interactive games. 5:30 PM: Dinner 6:30 PM: Raffle for rocks and minerals. Note: You will acquire raffle tickets by participating in the rock games. Our 2024 party will now include a separate children's rock raffle! 7:30 PM: Terrestrial events come to an end....the out of the world stuff soon begins! 8:30 PM: If the weather is clear, observing the night sky with telescopes!
